Art therapy is a learning experience for the client and therapist. Materials such as pencil, crayons, textures and paper can be beneficial as a therapeutic intervention without necessarily having the verbal ‘words’.
Sand Play uses a flat tray with sand and miniature toys helps clients project their situation onto an object. This creative and hands-on approach is a way of communicating and expressing what is happening to help process and explore a persons symbolic meaning-making.
An experiment in Gestalt is ultimately about trying something that will make the subject matter more available for experience in the here & now
